Technology Transformation & Operating Model for The Big Life Group

Following a 2023 cybersecurity incident, The Big Life Group engaged us to stabilise and transform its IT function. The programme delivered a Cybersecurity Strategy, Incident Response and Disaster Recovery plans, and achieved ISO 27001 Stage 1 certification. A new MSP (Sharp IT) was appointed, Microsoft Azure and ManageEngine Service Desk were implemented, and ITSM best practices embedded. A 2–3 year Technology Transformation Strategy and Target Operating Model were developed, strengthening cyber resilience, service performance, and alignment between IT and BLG’s mission as a leading UK social enterprise.

Clarion Digital Transformation

Clarion undertook a post-Covid digital transformation to align its global events business with a new operating model. The IT Transformation Programme rebuilt the technology function, introducing agile governance, process optimisation, and a new IT operating model. Key achievements included recruitment of 12 technology specialists, delivery of a baselined IT strategy, Power BI-driven KPI and capacity models, and a new IT Steering Committee. Infrastructure modernisation (O365, network refresh, Sophos XDR rollout) and ITIL-aligned process redesign enhanced security, resilience, and service delivery across Clarion’s global operations

Newcastle University Digital / IT Transformation

Led the transformation of Newcastle University’s IT function, managing 170 staff across infrastructure, systems, AV/EUC, academic IT, and service delivery. Delivered major projects including Software for Teaching AY23, a £25m Network Refresh, Cybersecurity Essentials, CRM for Admissions, and SAP SSO. Unified IT support across faculties through the Evolution programme, stabilised operations, filled key vacancies, and implemented a multi-year digital transformation roadmap aligned with the Business Technology Standard to enhance governance, service quality, and cyber resilience.

Digital & Technology Transformation at Haberdashers’ Schools

Led a multi-year modernisation programme across Haberdashers’ Boys’ and Girls’ Schools. This included stabilising IT operations, cutting the ticket backlog from 1,200 to under 200, and developing a digital strategy to enhance teaching, learning, and service delivery. Key outcomes included a new IT Target Operating Model, cybersecurity improvements, AI and Microsoft 365 pilots, and a BI strategy aligned to KPIs. Managing 24+ staff and a £4m budget, I delivered a secure, data-driven, and future-ready digital environment.

Digital Transformation Strategy

Development of a Digital Transformation Strategy, a roadmap to transforming Wakefield Council's IT culture and customer experience.

Over an intense 6-month period Founder and Director of IQS Consultancy, Kuldip Sandhu PhD, worked closely with the Head of Business Change, Head of Communications & Change and colleagues across Wakefield Council to develop a Council-wide Digital Transformation Strategy.

Digital IT Transformation Strategy & Implementation

Development of a Digital Transformation Strategy (Smart Venue), a roadmap to transforming ExCeL's IT culture, end user and customer experience.

Over a 2 year period IQS worked closely with the Board and Senior Leadership (CEO, CFO, Head of Exhibitions/Conferences, Marketing, HR & F&B) and staff across Technology to develop a enterprise-wide IT / Digital Transformation Strategy and subsequently implemented a range of programmes and projects to deliver on defined business outcomes. 

Service Transformation

IQS were engaged by a UK wide police force to accelerate the pace of change within the IT department. With our specialist IT Transformation skills, we worked with the Director of Capability & Resources, CIO, CTO, and the senior leadership team on the IT Transformation Programme.

Often times our clients have everything they need to succeed, they just require the resources and support to make a strategic jump. Global Expansion

Over an intense 4-month period IQS worked closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and colleagues across at leading UK Russell Group University to develop a University-wide IT strategy and IT Operating Model.

 

The strategy was developed primarily to answer questions raised in recent assurance exercises from EY, RSM, including a maturity assessment from KPMG to develop the future direction of travel for IT and operating model.

​

The IT strategy was the final ‘supporting strategy’ of the overall University’s strategy and growth plans.
